Greater Philadelphia was well represented at the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa, held October 11-13, 2022, in Carlsbad, California, and organized by the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine. It’s a High Five for Philadelphia in JLL Report

Greater Philadelphia’s life sciences ecosystem was recognized with the #5 spot in JLL’s 2022 Life Sciences Research Outlook & Cluster Rankings. The new ranking reflects a rise from the #9 spot in 2021. JLL evaluated geographic clusters on talent (35% weight), funding (30% weight), and commercial real estate (35% weight). Among the highlights was JLL’s recognition of Philadelphia as “home to a deep and growing pool of talent coming from the region’s strong universities.” The report also recognized Philadelphia as a leader in the cell and gene therapy sector.

Discovery Starts with Iovance Biotherapeutics’ Margot Wilson

Iovance Biotherapeutics’ Cell Therapy Center (iCTC) in Greater Philadelphia is the first centralized and scalable manufacturing facility dedicated to producing tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) as a potential therapy for patients with solid tumor cancers. One of the leaders on the ground at Iovance’s manufacturing facility is Margot Wilson, Director of Operational Excellence. Wilson works to ensure that these TIL cells are properly manufactured to be returned and administered as potential cancer treatments to patients. Wilson’s goal in working at Iovance? To deliver hope to patients who need new options.
