PACT Report Announces Record-Breaking Year for VC Investment

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia’s CEO Council for Growth was among the supporters of the 2021 Philadelphia Venture Report. Produced by the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) in conjunction with PitchBook, the annual report shares deal-making trends across sectors and stages, exits, and fundraising statistics.

The report, which was released on March 22, 2022, announced a record-breaking 2021 for Philadelphia’s venture capital ecosystem with 411 deals totaling nearly $8 billion. The thriving life sciences industry in Greater Philadelphia is poised for exponential growth and continued leadership. As a global hub for research, talent, and capital, Greater Philadelphia continues to scale and attract companies in a range of therapeutic areas, including the hot and growing cell and gene therapy subsectors. SAPA-GP Hosts Inaugural Cell & Gene Therapy Conference in June

For the past 20 years, Greater Philadelphia has been home to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA). The volunteer-supported professional organization, referred to as SAPA-GP, has filled its leadership team with executives at some of the leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies in our area. With support from more than 4,000 members, SAPA-GP hosts numerous scientific and business programs year-round and offers mentorship and career development opportunities for aspiring students and professionals.

On May 19, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia will honor Drexel University President John Fry with its 2021 William Penn Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a business person in the Greater Philadelphia region. Region’s Cell & Gene Therapy Initiative Announces 2022 Plans

The Greater Philadelphia Cell & Gene Therapy and Connected Health Initiative, a multi-year project of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia’s CEO Council for Growth and 11 partner organizations that was launched in 2019, continues its efforts in 2022 to build awareness about the region’s leading cell and gene therapy hub.
