Representatives from Greater Philadelphia’s life science ecosystem will share the story of our connected, collaborative, and accessible region at the upcoming BIO International Convention (BIO 2022), being held June 13-16, 2022 in San Diego, California.

Team members from the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia will be on hand at the Pennsylvania Partners booth to meet with industry professionals and showcase the region’s leadership role as a center for life sciences and a hub for cell and gene therapy. Among the other collaborators in the Pennsylvania Partners booth are the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce, and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance.

More than two dozen life sciences leaders from our region are scheduled to speak, including Michael Retterath, Chief Business Officer, Spark Therapeutics, Inc., who is a participant in a program about developing a sustainable portfolio for gene therapy and genome editing platforms. Bruce Goldsmith, Ph.D., CEO, Passage Bio, will moderate a panel discussion on gene therapy pioneers and what’s next for gene therapy; Paul Howard, Ph.D., Senior Director of Public Policy, Amicus Therapeutics, will guide a discussion that explores the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in drug discovery; and Stephen Sammut, MBA, Ph.D., Senior Fellow, University of Pennsylvania Center for Technology Transfer, will lead a conversation on achieving global health equity with biopharma and medtech.

Are you planning to attend? If so, there are a few easy ways you can take action to help spread the word about Greater Philadelphia when communicating and networking with BIO’s global audience of business development executives, investors, research analysts, and media.

In advance of the conference, visit the Chamber’s Cell & Gene Therapy Toolkit. Materials include key messages about the region, a fact sheet, testimonial videos, and an infographic highlighting the region’s key assets for the industry.

At the conference, stop by the Pennsylvania Partners booth and pick up a few copies of the May 2022 issue of Site Selection magazine, which features a profile of exciting new developments in our cell and gene therapy hub. Share them with a few of your contacts.

The 2022 BIO International Convention marks the organization’s return to an in-person event. The event was last held in person in Philadelphia in 2019, with the tri-state region’s leadership role in cell and gene therapy, gene editing, and connected health technology showcased at events presented by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and the regional host committee comprised of academic, business, and civic organizations.
