On behalf of the CEO Council for Growth, Rob Wonderling sent a letter earlier this month to the Army Corps of Engineers and the Office of Management and Budget urging the appropriation of additional funding for the Delaware River Main Channel Deepening Project. His letter complements those from the region’s Congressional delegation that have supported the project due to its importance to the economy.
Deepening the Delaware River from 40 to 45 feet is very important to the continued prosperity of the Delaware River regional economy, which includes communities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Including adequate funding in the Corps’ Budget Request will help ensure that the project is finished by its target completion date in 2017, allowing larger ships to reach ports along the river, generating additional economic activity and positioning Greater Philadelphia to take advantage of the Panama Canal’s expansion in 2015.
